LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Understanding of the neurophysiology of Chronic pain, including Peripheral and Central sensitisation
Anatomy review of pelvic floor, abdominal wall, fascial lines and female genital anatomy.
Understanding of anatomy of female sexual organs and their role in pleasure.
Understanding of the following conditions, vulvodynia, Genito pelvic pain/penetration disorder, including vaginismus and dyspareunia, pudendal neuralgia, IC/ bladder pain syndrome, endometriosis and vulval skin conditions.
Common comorbidities associated with pelvic pain.
Understand the pelvic floor's role in each of the above conditions.
Understand any lifestyle factors and whole body biomechanical strains that can impact on patients pain experience
Advanced perineal assessment relevant for female Pelvic Pain
Learn a variety of external and internal techniques to help in the management of pelvic pain
Understanding of the TENS machine and how it is used in the treatment of pain conditions
