Advanced Bladder Health.

This is a 2.5 day live course with 9 hours of online content that is to be completed before the live component. This in depth course will expand on the knowledge gained on the Pelvic floor level one course regarding bladder health, anatomy, and the continence system.

For the first time in Australia, Osteopaths will learn about the use of tens machines, vaginal electrical stimulation, and surface EMG in the management and treatment of LUTS including OAB and SUI. 

You will also gain experience in advanced internal assessment and treatment, along with external visceral techniques. This course will give you more confidence to assess, treat, and manage your patients with SUI and overactive bladder.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Expand your knowledge of the anatomy of the urethra, bladder, and continence mechanism 

  2. Hormonal influence on Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS)

  3. Expand your knowledge of LUT systems and management through lifestyle factors 

  4. Pathophysiological of overactive bladder

  5. Understand different factors that can increase the load on PF

  6. Intrinsic Sphincter deficiency (ISD) vs Urethral hypermobility as causes of SUI

  7. Advanced internal assessment of pelvic floor muscles and urethral support system

  8. Learn a variety of external and internal techniques to help in the management of LUTS 

  9. Understanding of the TENS machine and how it is used in the treatment of bladder urgency overactive bladder. 

  10. Understanding of biofeedback and electrical stimulation and how it is used in the treatment of incontinence and bladder urgency / overactive bladder  

  11. Medical treatment for overactive bladder and incontinence 

  12. Develop a whole-person clinical management framework for the management of incontinence and  overactive bladder

  13. Develop evidence-based treatment plans and progressive clinical goals for female incontinence and overactive bladder
